Thank you so much to all our families that joined our first ever Family Workshop! Seeing our campus filled with families always brings joy to my heart. If you couldn't make it to this family night, do not worry; October brings many opportunities for you to engage with our staff members and school community.
I look forward to seeing you all at Coffee with the Principal on October 6 from 8 to 9 am. We will have a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration on October 13 from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, and there will be a fun family project to engage from home with your students.
I can't wait to see you soon at our beautiful campus to share joyful learning and make memories together.
Note about Progress Reports: Progress Reports will be posted on Skyward on 9/20. We sent a family letter last Friday 9/16 in your student’s Friday Folder explaining standards-based grading. We want you to have all the information to understand your child’s academic progress, if you have any questions about standards-based grading, reach out to your child’s teacher.

Legacy School-Based Health officially has their very first published provider video and it’s about Toilet Training. Perfect for the younger kids who are training or going back to school and starting new routines.
Student Assistance Forms
We know that you may have some needs that arise as a parent, or guardian. You can receive direct help by submitting a “Student Assistance Form” or, a SAF. To communicate any support needs you may have, please click on the SAF link on the district website or use the QR code below. The campus Student Support Counselor will follow up with you to determine the best way to get your need met. SAFs can be submitted for:
- Urgent family concerns
- Family or student supplies or resources needed for school (i.e., calculator, books, food)
- Student social and emotional concerns
- Student home or family concerns
- Student relationship concerns
- Concerns about harassment, race, or equity.
Excused Absences & Submission of Notes
Families are now able to upload student absences and excuse notes into Skyward for approval. Please review this video that details the process.
YES Prep Public Schools defines excused absences as absences due to one or more of the following:
- Medical/dental-related, including appointments
- Bereavement/Funeral for immediate family members
- Absences related to the legal system
- Religious Observances
- Any other absence that is protected under State or Federal law.

Please call the front office for all questions and concerns regarding transportation. Your information will be routed to the specific person best equipped to support your need.
If you need to change your student’s method of dismissal, you need to call the school before 12:00 pm. This allows the information to be shared with all necessary stakeholders.
*Note for our bus rider families
If there is no one at the stop to pick up your student or the person picking them up does not have the appropriate car tag, your student will be returned to campus on the bus. If you have a question about whether your student is enroute back to campus, please call the front office. The front office staff or the after school administrator on duty will be able to answer contact the bus yard to confirm.
Student Attendance Reminders
Parents, please be reminded that our goal is to have all students in school each and every day. To make this a reality we need the support of our parents and families. Students arriving after 7:30 are considered tardy and need to check in at the front desk. Please contact the front office at 713-842-5555 if your student is going to be absent.
To remain in compliance with our district, please note the following:
A student's absence will be considered excused if a student provides physical or electronic documentation within 48 hours of absence indicating the student’s full name, and dates missed and is signed by a guardian or doctor mentioning any of the following reasons below and only if the absence meets the criteria defined under the excused absence section of our handbook.
Upon return to school, a student absent for more than three (3) consecutive days because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s extended absence from school. Students are only permitted 3 handwritten notes within a six-week grading period that meet the criteria below:

You may have noticed our new phone line system when you call our front office. There are several options for you to choose to help you reach the right person for the right topic. Below is a flow chart of the selections offered.
Step 1: Select "1" for English or "2" for Spanish
Step 2: Select from the following options
- "1" for Enrollment & Registration
- "2" for Attendance, Lottery & Transportation
- "3" for School Clinic
- "4" for Student Concerns & Academics
- "0" for General
Under option 2 you will have additional options
- "1: for Attendance
- "2" for Lottery
- "3" for Transportation
For all phone lines, you will be able to leave a voicemail and our personnel will reach back out.
Thank you so much for joining us at our Family Workshop on Sept. 15,2022. We had an amazing time sharing invaluable information about STAAR (3rd and 4th grade families) and supporting your children in meeting their reading learning goals with our amazing APs and Dean of Instruction (Pre-K through 2nd). We also had a station for SpEd and a station for all things communication with Ms. Conley and Ms. Arzate. We hope to see you at our future events!
Sparks Families we are excited to share with you another Volunteer opportunity . Our amazing librarian Ms. Ghee, needs 5-6 volunteers to help re-shelve on a weekly basis.There will be two time slots available :
- Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM- 8:00 AM
- Monday-Friday : 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM
Please note you will have to commit to the full hour and volunteers will be selected on a first come first serve basis. You will be notified via e-mail, by Leslie Rodriguez (Family Fellow), if you have been selected to volunteer.
