Dear Southeast Families,

As we begin the month of November, I would like to start with a heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us for Family Conferences. Taking the time to meet with your child’s teacher and discuss their progress plays an essential role in their success. Your partnership helps us ensure that every student continues to grow both academically and personally—thank you for making that commitment to your child’s learning.

We also have several exciting events coming up this month that highlight the spirit of community and giving at Southeast:

  • November 14 – Fall Festival (hosted by our Family Association): This event is a great way to bring families together in celebration. Your participation helps strengthen our school community and supports student programs throughout the year.

  • November 20 – Turkey Trot (hosted by our Core Enrichment Team): Students can join the fun by bringing a canned good donation as their “ticket” to participate. All donations will go directly toward supporting families in need from our Southeast community this holiday season.

  • November 21 – Thanksgiving Luncheons: We are excited to welcome families to campus for this special event. More details will be shared soon so you can plan ahead and join us in celebration.

November is always a busy but joyful month, and we are so grateful for the continued support you provide to your children and to our teachers. Your engagement allows us to keep our focus on what matters most—providing an excellent education for every student.

Thank you for being an essential part of the Southeast family

With gratitude,
Mr. Jorge Rodriguez
Principal, Southeast Elementary

Introduction from SSC

Hello Spark families!

My name is Ms. Ocasio, and I am the Student Support Counselor at Southeast Elementary. My role is to support students in their socioemotional development and connect families and students to resources when needed.

We know that you may have some needs that arise as a parent or guardian. You can receive direct help by submitting a “Student Assistance Form” or SAF. • Urgent family concerns

  • Family or student supplies or resources needed for school (i.e., calculator, books, food)

  • Student social and emotional concerns

  • Student home or family concerns (food insecurity, clothing, shelter)

  • Student relationship concerns

  • Concerns about harassment, race, or equity

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email at fv02@yesprep.org if you have any questions or concerns.

🏃‍♂️ Turkey Trot – November 20 during Core Enrichment 🦃

The Core Enrichment Team is excited to host our annual Turkey Trot, supporting our community through a canned food drive!

Students can participate by donating a minimum of three canned or dry goods as their “entry fee” for a chance to chase and catch the Turkey!

If your child is unable to make a donation but would still like to join in the fun, they may write a Thanksgiving note for the seniors at North Pasadena Community Outreach.

All donations will benefit the Joyful Hearts Senior Program at North Pasadena Community Outreach, helping to create Thanksgiving meals for local seniors.
